Effects of Compoung 48/80 on the Juxtaglomerular Cells of Rat Kidney



Abstract
This study was performed to investigate the effects of a potent histamine liberator, compound 48/80, on the juxtaglomerular cells of the rat kidney.
At 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hour, and 8 hour after the injection of compound 48/80 intraperitoneally, the changes of the juxtaglomerular cells evaluated by juxtaglomerular granulation index (JGI) and granular cell index (GCI) were observed.
At 1 hour after injection of compound 48/80 (1 hour group), JGI and GCI were significantly
decreased in comparison with those of the control group that is treated with Tyrode solution. At 2 hour after injection of compound 48/80 (2 hour group), JGI and GCI were decreased in
comparison with the control group, but increased in comparison with the 1 hour group.
At 4 hour after injection of compound 48/80 (4hour group), JGI and GCI were similar with .
the control group.
At 8 hour after injection of compound 48/80 (8 hour group), JGI and GCI were 19.0 and 9.3 respectively which were significantly decreased in comparison with the 4 hour group.
From the above results, it is suggested that the compound 48/80 may act on the juxtaglomerular cell. directly, or chemical substances released from the mast cells by compound 48/80 may act on the juxtaglomerular cells, and may decrease the granularity of juxtaglomerular cells.
